SootMint – Independent Marketplace Platform

Overview

SootMint is a platform that enables independent sellers to offer a wide variety of products, primarily physical goods such as arts, crafts, and handmade merchandise. The platform may also support limited digital products, including music. SootMint itself does not sell products; it provides tools for sellers to list items, process payments securely, and communicate with buyers.

Marketplace Role

• Sellers are independent merchants of record.
• Payments are processed by Stripe and go directly to the seller’s connected account.
• SootMint does not store payment details, guarantee delivery, issue refunds, or mediate disputes.
• Sellers control pricing, fulfillment, digital access, and customer service.

Payments and Fees

• Stripe handles all payment processing and disputes.
• Platform fees, if applicable, are automatically deducted via Stripe’s application fee mechanism.
• SootMint is never responsible for disputes, refunds, or chargebacks.

Refunds, Returns, and Disputes

Refunds and returns are managed directly by the sellers, in accordance with their stated policies. Buyers are expected to contact the seller first. SootMint may provide support or data if needed, but does not arbitrate or issue refunds.

Data Collection and Security

SootMint collects order records, listing snapshots, messages, and fulfillment logs to ensure platform safety, detect fraud, and provide evidence to Stripe in disputes. The platform does not use this data to mediate disputes or guarantee outcomes.
